Worn tyres are a safety risk. We inspect tread depth, sidewall condition and overall tyre health and advise you honestly on when replacement is needed.
A flat tyre can sometimes damage the rim or wheel assembly. We inspect and advise on any additional repairs needed to keep your scooter safe to ride.
Riding on a flat or underinflated tyre damages the rim, wheel assembly and affects the stability of your scooter. If you notice a flat, stop and call us on 02 4302 7133 before continuing to use your scooter.
Understanding your tyre type helps us get the right replacement. Not sure what you have? Call us and we will help you identify it.
Air-filled tyres that give the best ride comfort and grip. Most common on outdoor scooters. Can get punctures. Tubes can be repaired or replaced.
Solid foam inside a rubber outer shell. Completely puncture-proof. Slightly firmer ride than pneumatic. Popular with frequent outdoor riders.
Fully solid rubber construction. Extremely durable and maintenance-free. Common on indoor scooters and smaller travel scooters.
A few simple habits will keep your tyres in top condition, protect your battery and extend the working life of your scooter significantly.
This is the single most important thing you can do. Underinflated tyres create more rolling resistance, which forces your motor to work harder and drains your battery faster. Most mobility scooter pneumatic tyres run between 20 and 35 PSI depending on the model. Check your owner's manual or call us for the correct pressure for your scooter. Check pressure once a fortnight with a simple tyre pressure gauge available from any service station or hardware store.
A well-inflated tyre can add 10 to 20 percent more range per charge compared to a soft tyre. If you have noticed your battery not lasting as long as it used to, check your tyre pressure before assuming your battery needs replacing. It is a free fix that many people overlook entirely.
Walk around your scooter weekly and look at each tyre. You are looking for cracks in the rubber, bulges in the sidewall, nails or glass embedded in the tread, and tread that is wearing thin or unevenly. Catching a slow leak early saves you a roadside flat. A tyre that looks cracked or bulging needs replacing before it fails on you.
Mobility scooter tyres are tougher than bicycle tyres but they are still vulnerable to impact damage. Hitting a kerb hard or riding through broken glass or gravel is the most common cause of punctures on the Central Coast. Take kerb cuts and ramps slowly and avoid riding over debris where you can.
UV exposure and heat cause rubber to dry out and crack over time. If you leave your scooter outside in the sun regularly, your tyres will deteriorate much faster than those of a scooter stored in a garage or shed. Even a carport makes a significant difference to tyre longevity.
When you bring your scooter in for its annual service we check all tyres as part of the process. If you are not having your scooter serviced annually you are missing the most cost-effective way to catch small issues before they become expensive problems. Call us on 02 4302 7133 to book a service.

Aplus DesignsThe size is printed on the sidewall of your existing tyre. It will show numbers like 3.00-8 or 4.10/3.50-4. If you cannot read it or are unsure, bring your scooter in and we will identify the correct size for you.
In many cases we can repair a punctured inner tube rather than replacing the whole tyre, which saves you money. We will assess the damage and advise you on the best option. If the tyre itself is damaged or worn we will recommend replacement.
Underinflated tyres create significantly more rolling resistance, forcing your motor to work harder and draining your battery faster. Keeping tyres at the correct pressure can add 10 to 20 percent more range per charge. If your battery does not seem to last as long as it used to, check your tyre pressure before assuming you need a new battery.
Most tyre and tube replacements are completed on the same day. In many cases we can do it while you wait. Call ahead on 02 4302 7133 to check availability and we will do our best to accommodate you.
