What is the K Care self-propel mobile shower commode?
It’s a mobile shower commode that works as both a shower chair and a toilet chair. The user can be wheeled over the toilet or into the shower, and the large rear wheels let someone with enough upper limb function move themselves.
How does the self-propel feature work?
The two 22" rear wheels have push-to-lock brakes, and the two 125 mm front castors lock too. Push rims are available as an optional extra. A carer can also push using the integrated handle.
How do transfers work?
The arms swing up for unrestricted side transfers, and the footrests swing away and remove, so the user can get close to the commode. The footrest height adjusts to suit the user.
What is the backrest like?
It has three straps, which makes it comfortable and easy to reach for cleaning and personal care.
Does it include a seat?
No, the padded seat is sold separately. This commode is designed to work with K Care’s patented removable seats, which clip on and off for cleaning and servicing, so the seat style can be chosen to suit the user. Ask us about open and closed front options and pressure-reducing seats. Check whether a pan and pan carrier are also needed.
Is it tested to Australian standards?
Yes, it’s independently tested to conform to AS/NZS 3973:2009.
What is the frame made of?
Stainless steel, which resists rust and suits wet areas.
How do I get one?
We recommend having the commode assessed and chosen by an OT or physiotherapist, who will confirm the size, seat and footrest setup. We work with NDIS, DVA, Support at Home and private funding, and we’ll guide you and your clinician if funding isn’t sorted yet. We deliver across the Central Coast.
